About Mr. Pettit
Hello Students and Families!

My name is Mr. Pettit and I am incredibly excited to work with you this school year! I was born and raised in nearby Santa Barbara, where I received my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and Master's of Education (M.Ed.) at Antioch University.
​
My passion for teaching developed while serving as a mentor for high school and college students at an international NGO.
Following a full year of service as a substitute teacher for two school districts, as well as experience student teaching at multiple charter schools, I have had the privilege of working with the 5th and 6th grade students here at SYVCS since 2019!
​
Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending time outdoors, hiking, camping, and fishing. I also love playing guitar, writing music, and listening to vinyl records.
My wife Kelly and I currently reside in Santa Barbara with our son, Weston, whom we welcomed to the world in September of 2019!
